January 26th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in Uncategorized

Liquid Rubber Fix pond leaks. Waterproofing Fish Pond, Leaks Repair, pond liner, Fountains, & Reflecting Pools with Liquid EPDM Rubber Concrete which has not been modified with special additives must be protected by impervious coatings when used for containing water. Unprotected concrete will absorb water which can then leach out soluble constituents and cause spalling when frozen. The combination of outdoor exposure plus water immersion creates a demanding environment for a coating. It must have high resistance to water penetration, be flexible enough to withstand extremes in temperature, and not be affected by ultra violet radiation from the sun. Liquid EPDM rubber coatings possess all this characteristics and are also non toxic to fish.

Preparation. Drain water and clean surface dirt while concrete is still wet. High pressure water spray and/or scouring surface with a wire brush may be necessary in fish ponds. If algae are present treat with an algaecide or 25% solution of bleach, let stand for one hour and rise well. Allow one week (rain free) for concrete to dry out.

If you are using this in Koi tanks in immersion conditions, make sure you have 2 coats of Liquid EPDM and that you have a full cure. To do so, let cure in air (without water) for about 1 week in 70 deg F or more ). Soak and rinse out the tank several times with water before making this ready for the Koi. The soaking and rinsing is to ensure you get out any residue solvents after the curing process. You will of course need to prepare the water for the Koy in whatever normal way you prepare Koi tanks/ponds.

Whether your pond is concrete, plastic or rubber lined. EPDM Liquid Rubber can fix your leaks troubles. Plastic pond liners have a tendency to crack or to tear. There are products such at tapes and caulks that will eventually wear. EPDM Liquid Rubber, on the will not. For concrete ponds the easiest solution for leaks are to cover them with a rubber liner but they are tricky to install. Liquid Rubber Coatings provides an easy one-time solution to your pond leak regardless of if they are made of rubber, concrete or plastic. And yes, it is safe for fish!

Liquid Rubber for Coating Plywood:

Liquid Rubber Coatings has been used directly over plywood to make a finished roof in situations where expediency and minimal cost were the primary considerations. Although this procedure results in a weaker roof structure, water-tightness can be achieved if the application is performed carefully. The joint between sheets should be positioned directly over a roof truss and securely fastened to prevent warping. Next, to seal the pores, coat plywood with an oil based primer. Allow an overnight cure. Seal the joint by bridging it with a 6″ wide polyester fabric strip. Apply a light coat of EPDM rubber over the joint, lay fabric into wet rubber and smooth out wrinkles. Complete job by applying a liberal coat of Liquid Rubber over entire roof surface, being especially careful to completely cover the fabric over the joint without skips or pinholes. Using an oil base primer on the wood considerably improves the appearance of a one-coat application of Liquid Rubber.

Liquid Rubber is excellent for Wood Surfaces Repair Product; Liquid Rubber can be applied to wood. We recommend first applying a primer coat using an oil base primer and then the Liquid Rubber after the primer has dried. Liquid Rubber can be colored using “universal” colorants available at any paint store. You can add up to one cup per gallon of paint thinner for easier handling when going over wood. Liquid Rubber is slippery when there is only a fine mist of water on its surface. Silicone and oil-based materials are considered unstable and should be avoided.

Author wants to minimize the problem of roof leaks repair in this article. So he defines many tricks and methods to solve this problem. He also provides some guidelines that how we can utilize our roof repair resources and how we can reduce our expenditures on roofs by using liquid roof, Liquid Rubber, EPDM and other modern techniques.

7 common problems with locks and how to fix them

January 26th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in Uncategorized

Frozen Lock – If a lock is frozen you can pray deicing spray into it or use a hairdryer to warm it up. Some people say that you can heat a key up with a lighter but this will tarnish the key and possibly make it more susceptible to breaking later on. You could also burn your fingers.

Broken key – If you break your key off in the lock you should spray a lubricant into the keyhole first to make the key stub easier to pull out. Once you have lubricated it you can us a couple paper clips or anything small enough and strong enough to fit into the lock and pinch the top and bottom of the key stub. Once you get it out a bit you can pinch on with pliers to get it the rest of the way.

Stubborn key – Sometimes a key won’t go in and out of the lock smoothly. This is usually because your key is worn out and you need a new one. When the biting on the key wears the pins inside the lock don’t align properly so it can turn. It’s also likely that it could be dirty or in need of lubrication. Clean the lock and put some new lubrication into it. Please see the article before this one for more on this subject.

Action is stiff when you turn the key – If a lock is difficult to turn and the key works properly then you probably need to clean, lubricate and adjust the lock. You can also find this information in a previous article.

Moving lock – If the cylinder moves when you turn the key then you have to tighten the screws so it pinches the door harder. Don’t over tighten.

Deadbolt won’t go in or the door won’t stay closed – If the bolt doesn’t extend, check the alignment of the strike plate where it enters the door jam. This also goes for doors that won’t stay closed. The reason for this is that the plunger isn’t going into the hole properly and the door is swinging back open. Look at the strike plates and adjust them accordingly. You may need a small chisel for this to align the strike plate on the door jam.

The door is getting stuck when closed or when closing – First make sure that the screws in the hinges, door handle, and deadbolt are tightened and aligned properly. if this isn’t the reason then you need to look at the strike plate. Please refer to the tip above this one. When the weather gets warmer or colder the house can shift a bit causing the door to go out of alignment. You can usually fix this by making the hole in the door strike bigger but first make sure that the latch and strike are the problem and that it’s not the door rubbing on the jam.

What Can YOU Do With a Woodwork Guide?

January 25th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in Uncategorized

I Wish I Thought About a Woodwork Guide First!

Last summer, I made an attempt to build a deck in my backyard.  I thought I was a relatively smart guy and would have no need for a woodwork guide.  Boy was I wrong!  Not only did I spend close to double what I thought, but it still isn’t finished!

A woodwork guide would have saved me the headache and heartache of trying to do this myself.  Regardless of how smart I thought I was, I didn’t know enough to build a deck from scratch.  So why did I not even consider a woodwork guide?  One word –

PRIDE

For one reason or another, I didn’t want to see like I didn’t know what I was doing.  I thought that a woodworking download would make me look weak or something.  I don’t know.  What I do know is that it was completely NOT WORTH my trouble.  I know look more silly because I have a quarter of my deck up and a bunch of 2 x 4’s sitting in my garage.  Again, who looks silly now?

A woodwork guide as I learned is not a bad thing.  It really just serves as a road map to successfully building whatever wood project you want.  After all, I still need to actually build it right?  Now that I have my woodwork guide for thousands of projects, I look back and just sort of laugh at how stupid I was!

If you are serious about building anything out of wood, please do not make the same mistake that I did by overlooking the value of a woodwork guide.  It is only going to help!  Because I am able to look at pictures and diagrams while building, I can actually visualize how this project is going to work.  Not to mention, I know exactly what I am going to need BEFORE I actually go to the store!

Take the time and find a woodwork guide that is suitable for you.  No one is going to think less of you because you had a guide throughout your project.  At the end, just think of how proud you will be of what YOU have just built!

Not having a woodwork guide when I first started building my deck was a HUGE mistake on my end. Now that I’m almost done with it, I am moving on to the rest of my “unfinished projects”! With the use of my Woodwork Guide I know that I can get them done. I made a short video showing the guide that I use. Feel free to take a look at – Woodwork Guide.

Woodworking Downloads are Great – If You Find the Right One!

January 25th, 2010 No Comments   Posted in Uncategorized

Woodworking Downloads Will Make Your Life SO Much Easier!

As an aspiring carpenter, I have been using woodworking downloads for the last three years.  What I’ve found is that they not only give me new ideas for projects, but they also make my like so much easier!

Woodworking downloads should serve as a guide to walk you through a project from start to finish.  Now the woodworking guide that I use not only tells me the materials that I am going to need BEFORE I go to the hardware store, but they also give me pictures and diagrams that allow me to follow the process from beginning to end!

It all started when my wife asked me to build a wooden shelf for our kitchen.  Me being the typical male, didn’t think that I’d need any help!  I ran to the hardware store and picked up the materials that I would need to make these shelves.  Well let’s just say that it didn’t go over to well!

Come on, it’s a wooden shelf – I don’t need any woodworking downloads!

Not only did I buy $60 worth of materials that I didn’t use, but it also took me a WEEK to get that wooden shelf done!  The reason is because I didn’t know what I was doing and I didn’t seek help.  Had I just looked around for a woodworking download up front, I wouldn’t have this problem!

I was sure not to make that mistake again!  After I finished the shelf, I scoured the wonderful wide world web for woodworking downloads.  I can’t believe all the garbage that I found.  An hour into my search though, I found a woodworking guide that was practical, inexpensive and VERY easy to use.

After I downloaded that guide, I started building a small wooden toy box for my kids.  It took me three days!  (I work full-time otherwise I would have probably been done in a day).  My point is that this woodworking guide gave me everything that I needed to QUICKLY build a toy box.  My wife still makes fun of me for it because of how long it took to build a wooden shelf versus a toy box!

That’s my point though.  I found a guide that worked for me.  Not only am I building stuff on my own, but I also found a new, self-gratifying hobby!  Thanks to those woodworking downloads!

If you want to see what puts all the other woodworking downloads to shame, visit Woodworking Downloads for a quick video showing you what I am using today!
